The Republic of Finland was established in 1917 after prior domination by Russia. The coinage of Finland was reformed in 1963, with 100 old markka = one new markka. Shown is an aluminum 1977 one penni. This type was struck in Helsinki for Finland 1969-79. All dates are common. It was demonetized in 1979. Wikipedia comments, "On the 28 August 2024 the directors of the mint decided to terminate operations. Once current contracts are completed the facility will close down, a date expected to be in the spring of 2025."
