Stack's Bowers November 2022 Collectors Choice sale, lot 75010
SB1122-75010r.jpg

This specimen was lot 75010 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, 1564. London Mint; mm: star. Elizabeth I. PCGS Genuine--Bent, AU Details. A boldly struck coin, quite enticing, with an overall first rate appearance. An old collector'[s] tag is enclosed." It is not, strictly speaking, correct to refer to Great Britain until the reign of James I, who united England and Scotland. Numismatists do not count the milled coinage as part of the sequence of first thru seventh issues.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.925 fine silver.

Catalog reference: S-2598.
