This specimen was lot 72294 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Groat, ND (1361-69). London Mint. Edward III. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, VF Details. S-1620. Inky charcoal patina decorates both faces, possibly the result of centuries spent toning in collection cabinets. Some slight scratches across the portrait area account for the "tooled" designation, though they are scant and unobtrusive. The first of this type we can recall offering in years." The halfgroat was two pence.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
