This specimen was lot 31313 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elbing. August III silver 3 Groszy 1763-FLS MS62 NGC. Obv. Crowned monogram of August III. Rev. 3 above ornate arms of Elbing. Full mint brilliance, with light hairline scratches on both sides. Very rare." Elector Frederick August of Saxony was also king of Poland and issues for the two regions bear a strong resemblance. This type is recorded in various subtypes for 1761 and 1763. It is one of many obscure and rare minors of central Europe.
