This five centavos was minted for El Salvador 1939-1974. This date is a product of the San Francisco mint, which also minted this type in 1951 and 1972. On the obverse of the coin is the image of Francisco Morazán, who defeated Guatemalan attempts to conquer Central America, thereby establishing Salvadoran independence.

Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.

Specification: 5 g, copper-nickel, 23 mm diameter.
