This thaler was made by counterstamping a Hungarian 1691-KB thaler and is a "Sede vacante" (vacant seat) thaler which was issued on the occasion of the death of the incumbent bishop (or pope) and prior to the elevation of his successor. This is the only example known according to Cahn (Die Münzen des Hochstifts Eichstätt (1962)). This coin is misattributed in Krause[1] as a double thaler when there was not enough change in usual standards of usual thalers from 1691 to 1725 to make it a double thaler.
