This specimen was part of lot 34263 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), which sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 2 & 5 Sucres Set 1973 UNC, KM82 & KM84. Both choice UNC in original wooden box from the Banco Central de Ecuador. With COA #116. The second example of these sets we have seen." This type was struck in substantial numbers but never officially released altho some have found their way onto the numismatic market in various mysterious ways.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000 (most melted).

Specification: copper-nickel.
