The East Caribbean States formed as a loose union of island nations in the Caribbean, all of which are former members of the British Caribbean Territories prior to its dissolution in 1965. The current full membership states are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Coins of the East Caribbean States continue to mix with those of the older British Caribbean Territories in circulation.

Shown is a 1981 two cents, rounded square. The type was struck 1981-2000. It was replaced in 2002 by a conventional round coin, also aluminum.
