East Caribbean States 1983 500 dollars
The East Caribbean States formed as a loose union of island nations in the Caribbean, all of which are former members of the British Caribbean Territories prior to its dissolution in 1965. The current full membership states are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Coins of the East Caribbean States continue to mix with those of the older British Caribbean Territories in circulation. This specimen was lot 3420 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$955 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"East Caribbean States, 500 Dollars 1983. Year of the Scout. Polierte Platte. FDC. NGC PF68 Ultra Cameo, Choice Proof."
This NCLT was accompanied by a silver fifty dollars (KM 17).
