Künker sale 406, lot 3522

This specimen was lot 3522 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €700 (about US$919 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DÄNEMARK, KÖNIGREICH, Margrethe II. seit 1972. 1.000 Kronen 2009. 4. Internationales Polarjahr 2007-2009 - Nordlicht. 7,78 g Feingold. GOLD. In Originaletui und mit Originalzertifikat. Polierte Platte. (kingdom of Denmark, Margaret II, since 1972, one thousand kroner of 2009, for the fourth international polar year, Northern Lights. With original box and certificate, proof.)"

Queen Margrethe II has been the monarch since 1972. Recently, the Danes voted not to join the euro, so the krone still circulates.

Recorded mintage: 2,400.

Specification: 8.65 g, 0.900 fine gold, 22 mm diameter.
