Denmark 1871-CS 2 rigsdaler Dav-79
This specimen was lot 161 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$610 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DÄNEMARK, Christian IX. 1863-1906. 2 Rigsdaler 1871, Kopenhagen. Münzmeister Diderik Christian Andreas Svendsen. Stempelschneider Harald Conradsen. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Bruun Rasmussen 871, Kopenhagen, Mai 2017, Los 237. ((kingdom of Denmark, Christian IX, 1863-1906, double rigsdaler of 1871, Copenhagen mint. Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"
Danish currency endured several "reforms" in the nineteenth century. After the reform of 1854, the monetary system was 96 skillings = 1 rigsdaler, 2 rigsdaler = 1 (old) speciedaler. This type is listed for 1864, 1868 and 1871-72. In 1874, the coinage was reformed again to the current system of 100 øre = one krone.
