Denmark 1819-IC FF rigsbankdaler
This specimen was lot 1050 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,300 CHF (about US$2,792 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DENMARK. Friedrich VI. 1808-1839. Rigsbankdaler (1/2 Speciestaler) 1819, Altona. Mit den Signaturen FF und IC (Johan Friedrich Freund, Münzmeister in Altona, 1819-1842, und Johannes Conradsen, Stempelschneider in Kopenhagen). Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. FDC. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. (kingdom of Denmark, Frederick VI, 1808-39, riksbankdaler of 1819, Altona mint, with mintmaster's initials FF. Very rare in this condition, Uncirculated, Beautiful condition with magnificent patina.)"
This denomination was struck sporadically 1813-55. Altho this subtype was struck 1819 only, similar rigsbankdalers were struck for Frederick VI in 1813 and 1818.
