Danzig 1648-GR ducat Fr-15
This specimen was lot 41172 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $10,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Danzig. Ducat, 1648-GR. Danzig Mint. Vladislaus IV. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, AU Details. Elusive and desirable in any condition, this Ducat presents nice details, despite a repaired designation, likely arising from flattening a bend. A SCARCE example that will still capture much attention. From the Collection of Kazmier Wysocki, former mayor of Hackensack, New Jersey." This type is listed in the SCWC for 1639-47 and is rare. Ducats with Wladyslaw's portrait were also struck in Thorn (Fr-58). On Wladyslaw's death in 1648, aged 52 years, he was succeeded by his half brother Jan Casimir.
