This specimen was lot 1718 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $1,840. the catalog description[1] noted, "1904 10 Daler/50 francs. Copenhagen mint. VF details (NCS). Head of Christian IX to left, legends and date around/seated female, trade items around, denominations above and below. Mount removed from top of obverse, typical bright yellow jewelry surfaces. A notable rarity from this Caribbean group, now the U.S. Virgin Islands. Only two gold denominations were ever struck for the Danish West Indies, both in 1904, and this is by far the rarer of the two. A desirable rarity."

Recorded mintage: 2,005.

Specification: 16.13 g, 0.900 fine, .466 troy oz AGW, 28 mm diameter; this specimen: 15.97 grams, 27.90 mm diameter. The weight standard matches that of the French gold 50 francs.
