SB224-74360r.jpg

This specimen was lot 74360 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "CZECHOSLOVAKIA. 25 Korun, 1969. PCGS MS-66. A crisp example with great originality and full luster." This denomination was used for two NCLT's in 1969; this one and another honoring the centennial of the death of J. E. Purkyne. Neither are rare. The uprising in question occurred August-October 1944 against the Nazis and the collaborationist regime of Jozef Tiso. It was crushed with the usual atrocities after the approaching Soviet Red Army failed to provide any assistance.

Specification: 16 g, 0.500 fine silver, 34 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-67.
