Czechoslovakia 1934 5 dukatu
This specimen was lot 30424 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $8,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Czechoslovakia: Republic gold 5 Dukatu 1934 MS64 PCGS. A premium example of this relatively low-mintage and hotly contested issue displaying scintillating golden luster in the fields amidst only the softest and most insignificant instances of handling. A worthy candidate for the discerning type collector." This type is rarely seen circulated, suggesting the hoarding of what few examples escaped government vaults. It was struck 1929-38. The obverse portrait is of "good" king Wenceslas, he of the well-known Christmas carol.
