This half cent was part of the second decimal republic coinage, with 100 cents = one pound. It is a one year type. Cyprus, off the coast of Turkey, fell to the British in 1878 and was made a crown colony in 1925. It became a republic in 1960 and has been de facto partitioned between the Turkish north and the Greek center and south since the early 1970's.
Recorded mintage: 10,000,000 plus 6,250 proofs.
