This bronze three mils was accompanied by five, twenty-five, fifty and one hundred mils coins. Cyprus, off the coast of Turkey, fell to the British in 1878 and was made a crown colony in 1925. It became a republic in 1960 and has been de facto partitioned between the Turkish north and the Greek center and south since the early 1970's. This type, struck at the London mint 1955 only, is common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: 6,250,000 plus 2,000 proofs.
