Stephen Album internet sale 28, lot 895

This specimen was lot 895 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $84. The catalog description[1] noted, "CYPRUS: Elizabeth II, 1952-1960, 100 mils, 1955, NGC graded MS66." This 100 mils was accompanied by three, five, twenty-five and fifty mils coins. It was struck 1955 and 1957; the 1957's were never released and nearly all melted. Cyprus, off the coast of Turkey, fell to the British in 1878 and was made a crown colony in 1925. It became a republic in 1960 and has been de facto partitioned between the Turkish north and the Greek center and south since the early 1970's.

Recorded mintage: 2,500,000 plus 2,000 proofs.
