This specimen was lot 34578 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $129. The catalog description[1] noted, "CYPRUS. 9 Piastres, 1919. NGC AU-58." This silver nine piastres was struck during the reign of George V, king of Great Britain 1911-36. Tho denominated in piastres, it is the same size and weight as a British shilling. Two other dates, 1913 and 1921, exist.
Recorded mintage: 400,000.
Specification: 5.66 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW.
