Steve Album sale 54, lot 766

This specimen was lot 766 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "CYPRUS: Victoria, 1878-1901, AE piastre, 1896, PCGS graded AU58." This type, one-ninth of a shilling, was struck in small numbers 1879-1900 with the late subtype dating 1881-91, 1895-1900. It is not rare in low grade.

Recorded mintage: 54,000, a better date.

Specification: 11.66 g, bronze, 32 mm diameter.
