This specimen was lot 4187 in Goldberg sale 75 (Los Angeles, September 2013), where it sold for $1,924. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cyprus. ¼ Piastre, 1880. Victoria. NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown." The SCWC lists this type for 1879-87, 1895-98 where it was struck in moderate numbers along with half piastres and one piastres, all in bronze. Cyprus, seized from the Turks by the British in 1878, was given a quasi-sterling coinage where nine piastres = one shilling.

Recorded mintage: 72,000 plus a few proofs.
