Cuba 1994 50 pesos KM-508
This specimen was lot 1736 in Jean Elsen sale 152 (Brussels, September 2022), where it sold for €135 (about US$163 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
" CUBA, République (1902-), AR 50 pesos (5 oz), 1994. Raie léopard. 2500 p. frappées. Flan poli. (republic of Cuba, silver fifty pesos (five troy oz) of 1994, spotted eagle ray, 2500 pieces struck. Proof.)"
After the release of many self-congratulatory NCLT's was greeted by disinterest from the world at large, the regime switched to less political topics such as sports and history. This was part of an series celebrating Cuban wildlife. This is an early colored coin.
