This type was struck at the Philadelphia mint for Cuba in 1915-16, 1920 and 1938. There is also a brass five centavos from 1943 (KM 11.3a). Two dates were struck in the fifties using the portrait of hero José Martí (KM 26, KM 30). Castro-era issues (KM 33, 1963-88) are aluminum. None are rare altho they can be expensive in high grade.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.

Specification: copper-nickel, 2.5 g, 17 mm diameter.
