This coin was minted by Italcambio for Costa Rica in 1970. It was part of a proof set containing the two, five, ten, twenty and twenty-five colones, all in silver. There was another set issued that year, containing the fifty, hundred, two hundred, five hundred and thousand colones, all in gold. This denomination honors that universally admired figure, Mom.

Specification: 53.9 g, 0.999 fine silver, 1.731 troy oz ASW, 60 mm diameter, designed by José Joaquin Trejos Fernandez and José Figueres Ferrer.
