This specimen was lot 45915 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "COOK ISLANDS. 20 Dollars, 2022. Elizabeth II. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Titanic issue, Early Releases. Ultra High Relief colorized. Comes with fragment of coal." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives sold in lands far from the issuing country. The inhabitants of the Cook Islands (pop. 15,000 in 2021) in the Pacific use the New Zealand dollar and the commemoratives are not legal tender there.
