This specimen was lot 3396 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "COOK ISLANDS: Elizabeth II, 1952-2022, AR 5 dollars, 2014, World of Parrots Series - Crimson Rosella, colorized, with COA and original case of issue, Unc. The crimson rosella (Platycercus elegans) is a parrot native to eastern and southeastern Australia which has been introduced to New Zealand and Norfolk Island. It is commonly found in, but not restricted to, mountain forests and gardens." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives sold in lands far from the issuing country. Other five dollar coins issued for the Cook Islands in 2014 include KM 1664, 1665, 1666, 1667, 1668, 1669, 1670, 1671, 1672, 1673, 2164, 2165, 2166, 2167, 2168, 2169, 2170, 2171, 2172, 2173, 2174, 2175, 2176, 2177, 2179, 2180, 2181, 2182, 2183, 2184, 2185, 2186, 2187, 2188, 2189 and 2415.
