This 300 pesos is an NCLT ("non-circulating legal tender") commemorative of the visit of Pope Paul VI to Colombia on the occasion of the International Eucharistic Congress. This specimen was lot 44511 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 300 Pesos, 1968-NI. PROOF-68 DEEP CAMEO (PCGS). International Eucharistic Congress in Bogota. Hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was accompanied by gold 100 pesos (KM 231), 500 pesos (KM 234), 200 pesos (KM 239) and 1500 pesos (KM 235). For the masses, a copper-nickel five pesos (KM 230) was emitted.

Recorded mintage: 62,000 plus an unknown number of proofs.

Specification: 12.9 g, 0.900 fine gold, .370 troy oz AGW.
