Colombia 1947 10 centavos

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This ten centavos was struck in Bogotá, Colombia, of a type issued 1945-52. This type, with the portrait of hero Francisco de Santander, superseded the Bolivar head type last struck in 1911-42. The date is common; a variety (KM 207.2) with the mintmark at the top pf the reverse is also recorded for 1947.

Recorded mintage: 7,366,000.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.500 fine silver, .040 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, designed by Gilroy Roberts.
