This five centavos was struck for Colombia in Philadelphia (no mintmark) and Bogotá ("B", shown here), of a type issued 1918-50. This type overlaps the later copper liberty cap type issued 1942-79. The earlier dates were struck at the Philadelphia mint, the later ones in Bogotá, leading to a flurry of repunched date varieties. The type is not so common in nice condition as the low catalog value would suggest.
Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.
Specification: 4 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 199.
