Colombia 1914 20 centavos
This specimen was part of lot 44340 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $75. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (4) 20 Centavos & (1) 2 Decimos, 1874-1933. Various Mints. F-12, VF Detail--Cleaned (2), AU Detail--Cleaned (2) (PCGS). 5 pieces in lot. 1874-Medellin PCGS F-12, KM-160, Restrepo-285.1, one year type with gray toning, 1877-Medellin PCGS Cleaned, VF Detail, KM-178.1, Restrepo-288.6, decent strike that has retoned nicely, and (3) 20 Centavos dated 1914, 1920, and 1933-B, KM-197, Restrepo type 388, all retoned since cleaning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type, with the portrait of hero Simon Bolivar, superseded the liberty head type last struck in 1897. It was struck 1911-14, 1920-22, 1933, 1938-42, all at Bogota.
