Colombia 1845-B RS 1/2 real
This specimen was part of lot 44105 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (5) 1/2 Reales, 1838-1847. Various Mints. EF Detail--Tooled, VF Detail--Environmental Damage, VF Detail--Scratch, VF Detail--Cleaned, & EF Detail--Damage (PCGS). 5 pieces in lot. KM-96.1 and KM-96.2, Restrepo types 177 and 178. Dated 1838, 1845, 1846, and 1847/6 (all Bogota), and 1846-Popayan. All with full details. The 1838-Bogota (tooled on obverse) is listed by Restrepo as 'rare', and by Krause as '2-4 pieces known'. The 1847/6 exhibits an "L" stamped into the obverse. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Bogotá and Popayan 1838-48.
