Sincona Auction 103, lot 297

This specimen was lot 297 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$419 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Köln, Erzbistum, Salentin von Isenburg, 1567-1577. Taler 1570, Deutz. Sehr schön. Rand etwas bearbeitet. (Germany, Very Fine, Slight tooling on edge.)"

This type was struck for the archbishop 1568-1571 and is not as rare as most ecclesiastical thalers of the seventeenth century. The city issued Dav-9155 and a very rare klippe KM MB244.

Specification: 28-29 g, silver, 41 mm diameter, this specimen 29.10 g.
