Sincona sale 47, lot 2794

This specimen was lot 2794 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$300 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, Grisons, Chur, Bistum, Johann VI. Flugi von Aspermont, 1636-1661. Kreuzer 1646. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. (bishopric of Chur, John of Aspermont, 1636-61, kreuzer of 1646. Very rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

Chur, along with the rest of Switzerland, left the Empire in 1648 as part of the Treaty of Westphalia which ended the Thirty Years War. This type was struck 1643-46 and 1649-52.
