Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 54677

This specimen was lot 54677 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 50 Cents, Year 32 (1943). PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A well struck coin with good luster, the much less common of the two dates for this series." This type was struck for the Nationalists in 1942-43. We don't know the mint, whether it was in China or in the United States.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.

Specification: 9.06 g, copper-nickel, 28 mm diameter.
