Chile 1862-So 50 centavos KM-134
This specimen was lot 1389 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,149.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE, Republic. 1818-present. AR 50 Centavos. Santiago mint. Dated 1862 So. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Very choice brilliant uncirculated with full luster. First year of the type and quite scarce in Mint State. Ex H. Christensen 82 (10 December 1982), lot 776." This fifty centavo piece was minted in Santiago, Chile, in 1863-67. This condor also appeared on half decimos, décimos and twenty centavos coins of the 1860's. The high relief led to weak strikes on the condor's body and the relief was lowered in 1867.
