This specimen is one of a type struck at Santiago, Chile, 1773-89. Harris[1] tabulates the Charles III two reales of Santiago as the fourth most abundant mint, after Mexico City (common), Potosi and Lima (each about half as common as Mexico) but it is still scarce.
Recorded mintage: 44,000.
