Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 76357

This specimen was lot 76357 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "CEYLON. 1/2 Cent, 1905. London Mint. Edward VII. PCGS MS-64 Red Brown." This type was struck 1904-09. It is common in all grades and was accompanied by a quarter cent and one cent. Half cents were struck for Ceylon as late as 1940. Ceylon, famous for tea, attained its independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka.

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2.35 g, copper, 18.3 mm diameter.
