This specimen was lot 72259 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "CEYLON. 10 Cents, 1902. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. A robust and intense example, this near Gem--tied with just three others for the finest in the PCGS population report, offers vibrant golden-yellow toning which increases as one approaches the peripheries." This type was struck 1902-03, 1907-10. The 1902 is a better date but not rare. Ceylon, famous for tea, attained its independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka.
