Cape Verde is an island group off the coast of Africa, long a colony of Portugal. Since independence in 1975, the same political party has ruled Guinea-Bissau as Cape Verde. Two other issues of this denomination exist for 1994, KM 30 (brown booby) and KM 33 (flowers). All have a low catalog value. At present (July 2024), US$1 = 101 escudos.
