This specimen was lot 1918 in Goldberg sale 115 (Los Angeles, February 2020), where it sold for $396. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada. 100 Dollars, 1988. Bowhead whales. In original holder. Choice Brilliant Proof." Gold one hundred dollar gold coins were struck to 16.96 g, 0.917 fine gold, in 1976-86, each year with a different subject. The weight and fineness were reduced to the module shown here in 1987 and commemoratives were struck to that standard until 2000. All are priced the same in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown, all proofs.

Specification: 13.34 g, 0.583 fine gold, .248 troy oz AGW.
