This specimen was part of lot 31060 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), which sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II Mint Set Pair 1953 & 1958, Both sets have six coins (cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar, dollar) and remain nearly tone-free." This type, featuring the first bust of the queen, was issued in large quantities 1953-62. The first two years (1953-54) were nickel plated steel (KM 50).

Recorded mintage: 7,607,521.

Specification: 4.59 g, nickel, 21.2 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Mary Gillick and G. E. Kruger-Gray.
