This specimen was part of lot 26747 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), which sold for $470. The catalog description[2] noted, "Elizabeth II Six Piece Prooflike Set 1954, Cent to Dollar. Most cameo. A difficult set to find today." This type, struck at Ottawa 1953-54, is common in all grades. In 1955, the composition reverted to nickel and round planchets restored. The use of chrome plated dies gave a polished appearance to the coins which in turn magnified the detractive effects of bagmarks.
Recorded mintage: 6,998,662.
Specification: chrome plated steel, 21.2 mm diameter, plain edge.
Catalog reference: KM 50.
