Stack's Bowers October 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74593

This specimen was lot 74593 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Cent, 1920. Ottawa Mint. George V. PCGS MS-65 Red. Small Cent Variety. A bright red Gem with persistent cartwheeling luster. From the Barbaro Acres Collection." This type was struck 1920-36 and superseded the large cent (KM 21) struck since the introduction of decimal coinage in 1870. The mintage would not be surpassed until 1932.

Recorded mintage: 15,483,923 plus 6,762,247 large cents (KM 21).

Specification: 3.24 g, bronze, 19.05 mm diameter, plain edge.
