Wm. Rosenblum sale 44B, lot 126

This coin, minted in Paris, was issued 1924-26 during the period of French mandate over the territory of Cameroon. It is accompanied by a similar one and two francs. Later, in 1960, Cameroon would attain independence. The obverse and reverse design are similar to what was being issued in many other French colonies in Africa. This specimen was lot 126 in Wm. Rosenblum sale 44B (Colorado Springs, December 2014), where it sold for $210. The catalog description noted, "Cameroon, French Mandate. 1924 50 Centimes. BU. KM values these at $250 in MS63. This should be worth that and possibly more."

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.

Specification: 2.53 g, aluminum bronze, 17.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
