This specimen was lot 23282 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "CAMBODIA. 20 Riels, 1989. NGC PROOF-66 Ultra Cameo. Features a view across the moat to the Angkor Wat temples. A brilliant and attractive proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." This is one of four NCLT's issued in this format in 1989, the others honoring the World Cup (KM 79), the Barcelona Olympics (KM 80) and the Albertville Winter Olympics (KM 81). The People's Republic of Kampuchea was renamed the State of Cambodia in 1990 but the country remains a shambles.
