Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1220

This specimen was lot 1220 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "CAMBODIA: Ang Duong, 1847-1860, AR 2 pe, ND (1847), scratch, goat variety, plate example, PCGS graded AU details, ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection. Daniel-32 lists this piece as from 1640, but PCGS dates it as 1847." Cambodia was colonized by the French in the 1860's and incorporated into French Indochina in the 1880's, thwarting the development of Cambodian coinage.
