This specimen was lot 29729 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $381.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "John VIII Palaeologus (1425-1448). AR stavraton (24 mm, 7.16 g, 6h axis). Constantinople. Facing bust of Christ Pantocrator, with radiate nimbus, flanked by IC - XC and • - ? / + IΩANHC ΔECΠOTHC O ΠΑΛΕΟΛΟΓOC (outer circle); + ΘV XAPITI AVTOKPATWP (inner circle), facing bust of John, crowned and nimbate; sigla: pellet | pellet.
