This specimen was lot 29722 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Michael VIII Palaeologus (1261-1282). AV hyperpyron (28 mm, 4.14 g, 6h axis). Constantinople, 1261-1272. Facing half-length bust of the Virgin Mary orans within circuit of city walls and six groups of towers ; three pellets to either side, Γ - M below / X/M/A/M/T, Michael, on left, kneeling right before Christ seated facing, holding scroll; in the background, to left, St. Michael standing right; IC - XC flanking Christ. Sear 2242. DOC 16 variant (different obverse letters). NGC (photo-certificate) MS 5/5 - 2/5, scratches, graffito. From The Andre Constantine Dimitriadis Collection."
