This specimen was lot 29694 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicephorus III Botaniates (1078-1081). EL tetarteron nomisma (20 mm, 3.98 g, 6h axis). Constantinople. Barred IC - XC, facing bust of Christ Pantocrator, with cruciform nimbus, two pellets in each bar of cross, holding Book of Gospels with both hands / +NIKHΘΔEC - TΩPOTANIAT, Nikephorus standing facing on dais, wearing crown and loros, holding jeweled vexillum with X on shaft in right hand and globus cruciger in left. Sear 1884. DO 5b-d. Rare. Flan crack at four o'clock on obverse. NGC (photo-certificate) AU 4/5 - 4/5. From The Andre Constantine Dimitriadis Collection.
